The automatic hydraulic puller and retrievers are actuated with a cylinder rather than the mechanical cam found on conventional units. The hydraulic units are actuated through a PLC and hydraulic directional valve and are not dependent upon the movement of the slides.
The threaded RD pull head is used for pull-down broaching operations where chips fall or are washed downward by coolant onto the pull head. Special design of the head includes an umbrella top to shed falling chips and a hole in the length of the puller for chips to wash through.
Precision long shank retriever heads locate in a 2 inch diameter hole in the handler slide. This type retriever head is used on pull down and table-up broaching machines. It uses the same type of mechanism as used in the R type puller.
Detent type retriever heads hold the broach cutting tools above the work piece with a spring loaded button. The button fits into a notch ground into the retriever shank. This retriever head can be provided with radial index keys. This type of retriever does not need a trip-off bar. They are limited to lighter broach tools.
Designed primarily for keyway broaches or broaches using rectangular shanks, this pull head can be manually or automatically operated. Proper pulling alignment is assured as the head holds the broach in position against the flat surfaces and provides a positive broach locking action. This keyway broach pull head comes in 2 sizes.
Precision long shank pullers locate in a 2 inch diameter bore. The bored hole rather than threads provide better puller accuracy in relationship of machine and fixture. The parts are produced with less runout and better concentricity.
